Thank you for staying with me on this blog journey. And, welcome to those who are finding your way to this blog for the first time.
I MADE IT!
Today is the 8th day of Brandy Mychals 7-Day Blog Challenge . I cannot even remember about the possible prize. I just know that it feels so good to have made a commitment and stayed the path to reach this point.
When I took the challenge I had lots of passion and no plan. With the first step the plan began to show itself. This was a blog challenge but it was really about realizing goals. I got to live what I had been writing about all week.
Here is how it played out:
- Talk versus write: I started by setting the intention to create this blog as conversation. Then, I thought about how this conversation would start and realized the best place was to tell folks what I was up to for the week, and how it would serve them.
- Choose a theme: Next, I decided a theme would give me a bigger vision to follow and help the readers follow along without overwhelm. My theme, “Enlightened Goal Setting”
- Re-cast material: This challenge was new to my calendar, so I needed a strategy to reach my goal of 7 blogs in 7 days. One key strategy was to create blogs from content I have recently shared in teleclasses and retreats.
- Keep it short: Another strategy was to keep it simple. Sticking to the blog challenge of the minimum 150 words helped me be brief versus wordy.
- Plan Ahead: As I got going, I got into inspired actions and drafted several blogs at a time. The day before it was to be published, I returned to edit and add visuals. Then, I scheduled the blog to publish the next day or days.
- Automation: Continuing with the strategies of simplicity and ease, I used what I had. I automated the Twitter and Facebook posts using, e.g., Hootsuite.
- Keep it Real: My intention of conversation kept me going as the challenge came at me. Tip:If you get tired or stale, simply have a conversation with yourself and your readers and write about what you are feeling about, e.g., blogging. Keep it real and personal. Folks appreciate authenticity.
- Current Events – The Chinese New Years fell during this challenge and offered inspiration for a blog post. This fit beautifully with my ancient-inspired YINpreneur blog. Look around and see what’s happening that complements your blog and inspires you to share.
- Accountability: Accountability is key in keeping your goal alive. Staying committed to myself was inspiration. Posting to the Brandy Mychals Facebook page was motivation.
- Gratitude and Community: Meeting and sharing with new bloggers made this fun. I give gratitude to Brandy for this challenge.
